Breakin' teacher goes on the run!

Tuesday 19 May 2015

A local hip hop teacher has breakin’ news – he’s yomping twice round Jersey this month to help give children a better start in life both here and in South-East Asia.

Scott Mills plans to run 96 miles in one weekend - taking his food, water and sleeping bag with him - to raise money for Brighter Futures Jersey and Tiny Toones – a school using hip hop to reach out and educate children living in Cambodia’s city slums.

It will be no mean feat – he’s set himself a challenge that’s three times the distance Royal Marines run to get their famous green berets.

Scott said: "It's going to be 70% mental, 20% physical and 10% sheer guts and determination....Just hope I'll still have all my toe-nails at the end of the run."

He’s hoping to raise £1,000 for each charity – money that will go a long way in Cambodia where every pound pays for a child’s education for a week at Tiny Toones – the school he volunteered at, at the end of last year.

Scott is setting off from his front door at Greve D’Azette on Friday 22 May and plans to finish at the Gloucester Vaults on Sunday 24 May in time to catch Liverpool kick off in their final game of the season at 3 pm.
