Jersey's new Household Reuse and Recycling Centre has been shortlisted for a national recycling award.

The Department for Infrastructure will now go head to head with 10 other projects from across the UK to hopefully win their catagory in the MRW National Recycling Awards later this year.

Since opening the centre, the Department for Infrastructure said they had received "a lot of positive feedback from those who have used it."

The Department now has until May to present a more detailed submission and they will find out if they are successful at the end of June.

Commenting on the announcement Deputy Eddie Noel, Minister for Infrastructure said: “This is fantastic news and well deserved for the team who were determined to bring the concept of recycling through the design and construction as well as being the function of the centre. Fingers crossed we are successful when it comes to the final.”

The Department of Infrastructure worked with Riva Architects, Camerons Construction, Henderson Green Consulting Engineers (M&E), WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff (Designers), T&G Structural Engineers and Acorn Enterprises to design and construct the new recycling centre.
