Investigation after St Brelade’s Bay fire last night

Wednesday 20 May 2015

Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire covering around 50 square metres behind a hotel in St Brelade’s Bay last night.

It took 12 firefighters and three fire engines to bring the blaze under control, after several members of the public reported that land at the back of a hotel, in Winston Churchill Park, was well alight.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service Watch Commander Richard Ryan said: “The States police had been notified of the incident and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”

The team of full-time and retained firefighters who attended the incident used a water jet to put out the fire, and had to stay on the scene for an hour to make sure it was completely out.
