People across the island fell silent this morning in tribute to those whose lives were lost in the Pier Road explosion and maritime tragedy.
On Thursday, trawler boat L’Ecume II collided with the Commodore Goodwill in St. Ouen’s Bay.
Despite extensive searches, skipper Michael Michieli and his crew - Larry Simyunn and Jervis Ramirez Baligat – have not been found.
Then in the early hours of Saturday morning, a suspected gas explosion at Pier Road led to the collapse of Haut du Mont flats. Five people have now been confirmed dead and four remain missing.
The Chief Minister and senior members of Government lined up outside Broad Street at 11:00, while Police officers stood quietly outside their headquarters.

Flags are being flown at half-mast across the island, and books of condolence have been opened across parish halls.
Islanders are also being invited to leave flowers and tributes outside Jersey Museum.
