On Thursday, trawler boat L’Ecume II collided with the Commodore Goodwill in St. Ouen’s Bay.
Despite extensive searches, skipper Michael Michieli and his crew – Larry Simyunn and Jervis Ramirez Baligat – have not been found.
Then in the early hours of Saturday morning, a suspected gas explosion at Pier Road, St Helier, led to the collapse of Haut du Mont flats. Five people have now been confirmed dead and four remain missing.
Jersey’s Chief Minister and senior members of the island’s Government lined up outside their States headquarters on Broad Street, St Helier, at 11:00, while Police officers stood quietly outside their headquarters.

Flags are being flown at half-mast across the island, and books of condolence have been opened across parish halls.
People have also been invited to leave flowers and tributes outside Jersey Museum.
