Jersey RFC couldn't maintain momentum after last week's inspiring win at home to Worcester.
The Reds travelled to Leeds to face Yorkshire Carnegie brimming with confidence but the visitors had to settle for a losing bonus point after being beaten 16-12 at Headingley.
Jersey's scores all came in the first half with Drew Locke and Nick Haining scoring tries. But the Reds couldn't capitalise on a 12-11 half-time lead and in the second half, Yorkshire made good a counter from deep to score in the corner.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Cornish Pirates beat bottom-placed Plymouth Albion 27-16 while Bristol beat Bedford 38-14. Jersey remain 8th in the league with 38 points, five points behind seventh-placed Cornish Pirates but five points above ninth-placed Doncaster.
