A Jerseyman has been found dead on a beach in Southern Thailand.
The 24 year-old’s body was found on the Island of Koh Tao early this morning, together with that of a woman – it’s been reported in the national media both suffered serious head wounds.
Reports say the pair arrived in the country last month.
Local police haven’t yet found a suspect or a motive but it’s believed they are looking at nearby CCTV footage.
The bodies are believed to have been found around 100 metres away from where a beach party was taking place last night.
Jersey Police say they are working with both the Thai and British Authorities who are leading the investigation but won’t confirm the man’s name until all of his family has been informed of his death.
Chief Minister Ian Gorst has released a statement, saying: “I am deeply saddened by reports that a young man from Jersey has died in Thailand. My thoughts are with his family and friends, and the Jersey authorities will provide any support they can.”
