A group of Islanders are hoping to get two of the Island’s top chefs eating out of their hands next month.
The residents from Les Amis are taking over the kitchen at Highlands College on Monday 13 April for a special Mastercook competition.
The competition is inspired by BBC's Masterchef and they'll all be looking to impress Jersey's answer to Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti.
Together with students at the College’s Academy of Culinary Arts they'll be dishing up some tasty treats from a box of ingredients for Michelin-starred Mark Jordan of the Atlantic Hotel and Mark Jordan at the Beach and the Academy’s catering manager Eileen Buicke-Kelly.
Les Amis’ Marketing and Fundraising Manager Bronia Maçon said: “We held our first Les Amis Mastercook at Highlands College last year, which was a hugely successful event, and our residents can’t wait to get back into the kitchen. This is about good friends of Les Amis, such as Eileen and Mark, coming together to hold a special event for some wonderful people.”
Eileen Buicke-Kelly said: “It was a pleasure to host the first Les Amis Mastercook and the second-year students are keen to get involved this year. It promises to be a fun afternoon for students and Les Amis residents, as well as the judges.”
Mark Jordan said: “I am delighted to be working alongside the Les Amis residents and Highlands students for this event. It is sure to be a fantastic experience for everyone involved and I am looking forward to judging the results.”
The competition is part of the charity's 40th birthday celebrations.
