The Lions Club of Jersey has donated £5,000 to a special fund set up by the Bailiff to support those affected by the recent maritime and Pier Road tragedies – and is asking anyone in need of help in the community to get in touch.
The Bailiff’s Appeal was launched this week by Sir Timothy Le Cocq (pictured top) and will run until 23 December.
All funds donated will go towards helping the loved ones of the three L’Ecume II fishermen lost when their trawler collided with a Condor freight ship last week, as well as those affected by the explosion that collapsed Haut du Mont flats.

Lions Club President Steve Taylor said: “We felt it very appropriate that from the funds we raise as a result of the support of local people, we should donate a significant sum to the forthcoming appeal from the Bailiff to benefit those who have suffered in these two catastrophic incidents."
The Lions also have a Community Service Committee that is inviting anyone impacted by these recent events to contact them for help.
Mr Taylor added: "Lions worldwide have a saying. ‘Where there is a need, there is a Lion.’ Please don’t be afraid to contact us."
Islanders can get in touch with the Lions’ Community Service Committee by telephoning 07797 710630 or by email at communityservice@lionsclubofjersey.co.uk.
