A 37-year-old man has denied assaulting a woman and then trying to get the alleged victim to retract her statement.
Richard Murray will now face a trial in the Royal Court for one count of ‘grave and criminal’ assault and two counts of perverting the course of justice.
It’s alleged that Mr Murray committed the assault on a woman at a premises in St. Helier on 26 April this year, and tried to get in contact with her on several occasions afterwards.

Advocate James Bell, representing Mr Murray, indicated his client’s ‘not guilty’ please to the three charges.
Crown Advocate Emma Hollywood appeared for the prosecution and told the members of the Court that these pleas were not accepted by the Crown and therefore asked that the matters be listed for a three-day trial next year.

The Bailiff Sir William Bailhache, presiding, informed Mr Murray that his case would be listed for a trial on 24 February 2020.
In the meantime, the 37-year-old was remanded in custody.
