Men arrested after "large-scale" Greve de Lecq party

Tuesday 06 April 2021

A man in his 20s has been arrested and is currently on bail as part of a Police investigation into reports of a "large-scale party" in the Greve de Lecq area on Saturday night.

Police said the arrest was related to "covid laws", and that another man was arrested and subsequently charged for being drunk and disorderly.

Police said they believed that around 100 individuals were in attendance at the party.

Currently, islanders are limited to gathering in groups of 10 by law.

Meanwhile, two arrests were made for drunk and disorderly behaviour in St. Helier on Friday and Saturday night and both individuals are set to appear before a Parish Hall Enquiry at a later date.

"The Easter bank holiday weekend went fairly smoothly and from a policing perspective we didn’t experience a spike in crime numbers in correlation with the relaxation of covid laws and guidance," DCI Craig Jackson said.

"We are particularly grateful to licensed premises who were extremely compliant in adhering to the regulations in place for both their staff and customers.

"As the island continues to navigate its way out of the pandemic, SoJP will continue to work alongside partner agencies to ensure rules and regulations are adhered, implementing the 4E’s (Engage, Explain, Encourage, Enforce) where absolutely necessary."
