Wednesday 13 March 2019

A 39-year-old man has been charged with stealing £7,500 from a bookmakers in town.

Andrew Page was arrested by Police and appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning where he was charged with larceny.

His court appearance came after the Police appealed for witnesses on Monday in relation to the alleged offence at Joe Jennings Bookmakers in Cheapside.

At the time it was believed that around £9,000 had been stolen. In a statement today, however, the Police said that Mr Page had been charged with the theft of £7,500.
