A 51-year-old man appeared in Jersey's Magistrate's Court this morning charged with murder.
It's alleged Michael Charles Brown stabbed and killed 73 year-old John McCarthy on Friday night.
Mr McCarthy was found by a member of the public lying in the driveway to Vauxhall Gardens, Vauxhall Street, St Helier, just before 19:30.
Paramedics were called and treated Mr McCarthy at the scene. He was later taken to hospital where he was officially declared dead.
Mr Brown who is born in Jersey, and lives in Vauxhall Gardens, was remanded in custody by Magistrate Bridget Shaw.
Unless the Attorney General sends the case directly to the Royal Court, Mr Brown will appear in the Magistrate's Court again on 5th December, with an interim hearing on 21st November.
