Man dies in St.Helier fire

Firefighters in Jersey have begun an investigation after a man in his 60's died following a blaze early this morning.

Roads surrounding Brighton Close on Columbus Street were closed for about an hour around 08:30, while the fire was dealt with.

Early this afternoon, a spokesman for the States Police confirmed that a man had died:

"Sadly, we can confirm there has been one fatality - a man in his 60’s – his family have been notified. The cause of the fire will be investigated, however it is not thought to be suspicious."
