Man killed in motorcycle crash

Tuesday 19 August 2014

A young man was killed in a motorbike accident on Victoria Avenue last night.

The man, believed to have been in his 20s, was killed when his motorcycle hit a van just after 7 pm. Police had sealed off the area and were still investigating through the night, and have arrested the van driver in his 40s on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police confirmed the tragic death in a tweet just before 10 pm, urging any potential witnesses to get in touch with them on 612612.

They attended the scene last night along with crews from the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service and Ambulance.

There were lots of people around at the time, and police have spoken to many witnesses, but they would still like anyone with any information to come forward. They have also confirmed that they will be reviewing CCTV footage today to see if the accident was captured by cameras in the area.

A statement identifying the victim is expected later today.
