A 39-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a serious assault on a woman.
Michael Steven Dacosta Moiro appeared before the Deputy Bailiff in the Royal Court yesterday, facing one charge of grave and criminal assault and one charge of breaching the peace in St. Helier.
He pleaded guilty to both counts on a basis.
His lawyer, Advocate Sarah Dale, made an application for bail ahead of his sentencing, but was refused.
Moiro will now remain in custody until his next court appearance on 13 March 2020.
Jurats Collette Crill and David Gareth Hughes were sitting.
