A man in his 30s had to be taken to hospital after being hit by a car in the early hours of this morning, Police have said in an appeal for more information.

The collision is believed to have taken place along the Greve D’Azette coast road between the White Horse Pub and the Victor Hugo apartments shortly after midnight on Monday.

Officers said in a statement: "Police were notified at 00:16 of a road traffic collision. A dark maroon coloured vehicle is believed to have hit a man in his 30s, knocking him to the floor. The vehicle stopped briefly before driving off towards St Helier.

"The man was taken to A&E in an ambulance but thankfully is not reported to have any injuries."

The Force is now looking to speak with anybody who might have any information to identify the vehicle and driver involved.

Anyone with more information can call Police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
