You can give your old mobile a new lease of life when you upgrade with one of the Island’s phone companies.

Airtel-Vodafone customers can trade in their old mobiles and help other people get connected in some of the world’s developing countries.

Head of Marketing Peter Zunino said: “Many of our customers want to upgrade regularly to the latest device. This scheme will allow them to help fund these new devices while, at the same time, know that their previously used devices will deliver social, economic and environmental benefits around the world.

“We have partnered with HYLA Mobile, one of the world’s leading mobile device trade-in and re-use companies to offer this service. In just over five years, they have collected more than 26 million devices, redistributed 95% of those to provide affordable mobile connectivity and responsibly recycled the other 5%.”

The Buy-Back Scheme is available to existing and new Airtel-Vodafone contract customers who will get a credit to redeem against the purchase of their new handset.

Jeff Rallet, HYLA’s General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “One device for one user is no longer the status quo: today, a mobile phone’s life can extend across multiple users, offering customers opportunities to engage with the most recent technology, while offering other users the connectivity that changes lives.”
