Work is starting today on Mont Cochon and in about three weeks you'll notice that it looks and sounds a bit different when you drive along it and you are less likely to skid.
The road is being resurfaced with a new, cheaper material that's being used all over the UK and France and has already been trailed at Mont Mado in St John, one that's blacker than traditional tarmac and one the Infrastructure Department say is much quieter to fit.
Work is starting just north of the junction with Rue de Trachy to just south of the junction with Les Charrieres Nicole and until Friday the whole road will be closed to traffic from 9.15 am until 6 pm and could even be closed until 8 pm with diversions via St John's main road.
The whole job is likely to take three weeks and at the end of this week there will be traffic lights working between 9.15 am and 6 pm. The road will be open at all other times.
Green Road is the next to be resurfaced with the new material that has a ten to fifteen year life-span.
