In this new series, local artists reveal their favourite piece of artwork that they have created this year.
First up is local mixed-media artist, Will Bertram, who combines illustration, installation, and virtual artwork in his practice, exploring imagined landscapes and alternate histories.
Most recently, Will worked as artist co-ordinator for the Go Wild Gorillas initiative hosted by Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, and is currently working as a junior graphic designer at Jersey Zoo.
However, Will's favourite piece this year is a "reimagining of Portelet Bay", which he created on his iPad using Procreate and Photoshop.
Pictured: Will was the artist coordinator of the Go Wild Gorillas trial, and also contributed his own gorilla.
The central location of this piece is particularly significant to Will, as Portelet Bay has been the setting of some of his most important memories of 2020.
He explains: "One of my best friends' compromised covid-safe stag-do was spent swimming and climbing around Janvrin's Tomb, and it was enjoying a beer at the pub where I found out my partner and I would be moving into our first home.
"Swimming at Portelet kickstarted my determination to swim all year round."

Delving deeper into the key motifs of this piece, Will reveals that they "represent the current imbalance of our planet and hint at nature's way of correcting itself."
He adds that the piece "stays true to Portelet's composition, showing Jersey's natural beauty in my own way of drawing."
"To me, it is a reminder of the newfound positives which have come out of the pandemic, and a reminder of Jersey's positives, reminding me not to take the little things (and big things) for granted," he explained.
