Natural beauty: call for entries to tree photo competition

Monday 28 August 2017

Amateur photographers are being invited to return to their roots in a new tree photography competition.

Rubis Channel Islands have once again teamed up with Trees for Life in Jersey and Guernsey to support a photography competition where entrants have to take photos of their favourite trees.

The ‘Trees We Love’ competition is now in its third year and is open to all amateur photographers, with an open category (18+) and a junior category (under 18s).

Entries must be of trees which are growing in the Channel Islands and the best pictures will be featured in the annual Rubis Calendar.

Winners in the open category will receive a £500 credit to their Rubis card (or a pre-loaded Rubis card for new customers), whilst junior winners will be awarded a £200 Amazon voucher.

Nick Crolla, Head of Sales and Marketing for Rubis Channel Islands said: "We are delighted to support this competition for the third year by displaying the winners in our annual calendar. In the past we have had some truly amazing entries and we are looking forward to another imaginative and creative selection this year."

Conrad Evans of Jersey Trees for Life added: "Funds raised through our partnership with Rubis provide vital support for our Jersey Hedgerow Campaign. They help fund the planting of trees and hedgerows, creating valuable ‘habitat corridors' for wildlife in the process and we are grateful for their continued support. With 2017 marking our 80th anniversary we are seeing this year as a landmark for our organisation and would like to think our relationship will continue for as many years."

For more information about the competition and to receive a copy of the terms and conditions, please email education@jerseytreesforlife.org.

All registrations must be received by this Friday (1 September 2017), and the closing date for entries is Monday 25th September 2017.
