Automated texts to spread positive results quicker

Thursday 24 December 2020

Islanders who test positive to corona virus will receive automated texts from midday today, through text messages or email, speeding up the process outside of the contact tracing team’s working hours.

The Government said faster delivery of test results will mean individuals with covid-19 can begin self-isolation sooner, reducing the risk of transmission to others.

Islanders who test positive will receive two messages – one confirming their result, and another giving them a six digit code for the Jersey COVID Alert App, so that the app can warn other uses if they have been exposed.

The automated messages will only be sent to those between the age of 18 and 70 - those outside of that bracket will continue to be contacted directly by the team.

Islanders who receive a positive result will have to go into isolation immediately.

Anyone with queries can contact the Helpdesk 445566 for support.

Contact tracers and swabbers will be working on Christmas Day, Express confirmed earlier this week, despite earlier plans to close down the service at that time.
