Hundreds of teenagers have been picking up their GCSE results this morning and Jersey's students have again performed well compared to their English counterparts with a 76.7% pass rate.
It won't be good news for everyone though so a local charity is making sure there’s support for those who haven’t got the grades. Anyone who didn’t get a C grade in English or Maths can drop-in to the Library on Saturday and meet the team from Words and Numbers Matter.
The charity will be on hand to help them explore their options whether it’s Functional Skills or GCSE re-sits and are offering a revision course for anyone wanting to re-take their exams in November.
It’s also offering support for those about to start either their first or second year of GCSE’s.
The Education Department will be producing a detailed report on island wide GCSE performance later in the year once appeals and re-marks have been completed. This year a total of 1043 students sat GCSE examinations in the island. 28% achieved A* or A grades, compared to England's 21%.
Words and Numbers Matter will be at the Jersey Library in town this Saturday from 10 until 3.30pm for those needing help following their results. The charity was set up to support both children and adults and help them to improve their English and Maths skills. They also help build confidence and belief.
