Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man found at sea on Saturday afternoon.
The body has still not been formally identified but the search for 63 year-old former teacher John Renouf who went missing on Friday was officially called off after a huge search and rescue operation involving a French helicopter.
Police were concerned about the whereabouts of Mr Renouf and a big search for him was carried out around St Brelade on Friday night. The helicopter was called in to help as the emergency services and lifeboat crews scoured Portelet Common, cliffs and shoreline.
The search continued on Saturday morning but police confirmed later in the day that a man had been found by a French vessel and had been recovered from the sea to the East of the Island by the RNLI on Saturday afternoon.
Police now say that there are no suspicious circumstances in relation to the incident.
Mr Renouf's family have been notified.
