Pair cut off by tide at Seymour Tower

Wednesday 31 August 2022

Islanders are being warned to check the tides before they head out for a coastal walk after a pair got stuck at Seymour Tower.

The RNLI reported this afternoon: "On Friday 26th August, the St. Catherine’s Crew were paged for two casualties cut off by the tide at Seymour Tower.

"They were uninjured and with guests staying at the Tower.

"The crew launched the Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat and made their way to Seymour Tower. The crew navigated through the rocks to the north side of Seymour Tower to retrieve the two casualties. The lifeboat then returned to St Catherine's lifeboat station with the casualties."

They have since advised: "...Before you head out, make sure it's safe and check the tide tables.

"While you're out, be aware of your surroundings and the tide's direction."
