Up to £108,000 of the government’s reserve funding will be used to refund parents and guardians for school trips cancelled due to covid.
Since March, schools have cancelled multiple trips either under government advice or due to government restrictions on travel.
While the majority of costs will be recovered through supplier refunds, vouchers or insurance, certain costs are irrecoverable either due to timings of cancellations, specific terms and conditions of booking or insurance terms.

Treasury Minister, Deputy Susie Pinel, agreed the allocation of funds from Treasury's reserves, which will enable trip costs for children attending government schools to be refunded in full.
Jersey’s Education Minister, Senator Tracey Vallois, made the decision to close the majority of government schools from 23 March to reduce the spread of infection of covid-19.

Primary and secondary schools in Jersey reopened on 22 June and the island’s borders reopened to unrestricted travel on 3 July.
However, as further countries are given ‘red’ status under the government’s ‘traffic light’ classification system, uncertainty remains for people travelling away from the island.
