Police hunt culprit behind “malicious” football pitch damage

Monday 15 January 2018

Police are seeking information and witnesses after the Jersey Wanderers’ football pitch was ‘maliciously’ damaged over the weekend.

The turf, which is located on La Rue de Sauvallieries behind the Jersey Rugby Club was thought to be spoiled between 18:00 on Friday and 11:00 on Saturday.

The damage, Police say, was the result of a vehicle which had been “deliberately” driven around the pitch. They described the subsequent harm to the pitch as “significant”.

It’s not the first time that the Jersey Wanderers’ training ground has been targeted.

A similar malicious damage incident also took place between 26 and 29 December.

Anyone with information regarding the damage should contact Police on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
