Police investigate weekend crashes

Tuesday 21 March 2023

Police are investigating two car crashes that took place over the weekend, one at Beaumont Hill and the other at the Five Oaks roundabout.

On Saturday afternoon, a silver Peugeot 207 hit a bollard and went up into with two wheels off the floor.

The Fire Service was subsequently called and a towing company, which took the car away. No one was injured.

On Sunday, a black Porsche hit a barrier halfway up Beaumont Hill, forcing the closure of the road for around two hours.

A Police spokesperson said of the Sunday crash: "The driver declined medical treatment and the road was closed whilst accident investigators tried to establish what had happened and it was open again about two hours later."

Police are investigating both incidents and there have been no charges or arrests as yet.
