Police seek four witnesses a month on from Adrian’s disappearance

Tuesday 05 January 2016

Detectives are seeking four potentially key witnesses in the hunt for missing Adrian Lynch, who disappeared a month ago today.

Although the search for the missing 20-year-old has been scaled down, the investigation into what happened to Adrian is continuing.

The 20-year-old disappeared after a work night out on 5 December – he was last seen after being dropped off in a taxi near Carrefour Selous.

The police say that after no trace for weeks, it’s likely that the young electrician has died. They are working on the basis that he was inebriated, and became disoriented after suffering from hypothermia.

And police have this morning revealed details of four people that they say that they say could have valuable information for the inquiry.

They are:

- A man who was hitch-hiking up Mont Felard at about half past midnight on Saturday, he was wearing a dark, long-sleeved jumper and jeans, of proportionate build, and possibly in his 30s or 40s. They would also like to speak to any driver who might have picked the man up.

- A taxi driver who took a woman from the Weighbridge to an address in Rue des Varvots in St Lawrence. The driver and passenger might have seen someone believed to be Adrian around Carrefour Selous on the way to their destination, and the driver may have seen something on his way back to town.

- Two people seen with a motorbike near the junction of Rue de la Mare Ballam and Le Neuf Chemin – just north of the main entrance to St John’s Manor – at around midnight. One of the people was sitting on the stationary bike, and the other was standing alongside on the road. The standing man was wearing a dark top, wearing dark, baggy trousers with a tight line running down one or both legs.

Although that part of the operation has been cut back, investigators have not given up on what's been codenamed "Operation Panama" - they have detectives following up more than 100 evidential leads.

They have emphasised that there is no evidence to suggest anything suspicious in his disappearance.

A huge search effort including specialist officers, divers, drones, sniffer dogs and the Channel Islands Air Search plane have failed to find any trace of Adrian.
