Recycling centre to open earlier

Sunday 03 November 2019

Islanders will have more time to recycle their goods from next week.

The La Collette recycling centre will now be opening at 9:00 on a Mondays rather than 10:00.

Growth, Housing and Environment – the Government department with responsibility for waste disposal in the island – says it has changed the opening times based on customer feedback.

The change will take effect from tomorrow (Monday 4 November). From then, the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre and Household Green Waste Reception will be open 9:00 to 19:00 on Mondays; 09:00 to 16:00 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and 9:00 to 17:00 on Saturday and Sunday. The sites are closed on Wednesday.

Emma Richardson-Calladine, Recycling Manager, said: “We are listening to the feedback we’re receiving and will continue to review our site opening times so that customers find it easy to reuse and recycle.

“We hope that by opening our household recycling sites at La Collette at 9:00 on Monday, it will ensure our opening times are consistent and more accessible for our customers.

La Collette is now able to accept metal recycling, following the opening of the purpose-built metal recycling centre last month and the closure of the old scrapyard at Bellozanne.
