Reds prepare for late night frenzy

Friday 28 November 2014

The Reds will be looking to the stars tonight for a win against Plymouth Albion as the club stages it’s first-ever night match at St Peter.

The British & Irish Cup match has been dubbed the “Friday Night Frenzy” and the club are planning a big light show when the players take to the field.

Club Chairman Bill Dempsey said: “Although we have used our floodlights on many occasions around dusk since they were installed in 2011, this is the first time we have staged an evening game.

"There's a real buzz about seeing a match under lights and we hope lots of Islanders will want to be there to share it.

"We have had difficulty accommodating all supporters in the Clubhouse before matches, however the new marquee as well as the Barclays Pavilion and our other facilities will provide plenty of options for everyone."

A win for the Jersey team will give them an excellent chance of reaching the knock-out stages of the B&I Cup for the first time following two wins in their opening three games.

The Reds have already beaten tonight’s visitors in both the B&I and the Greene King IPA Championship this season.

A marquee has been installed at the club and will provide pre-match catering for supporters and extra transport is being put on.

Head Coach Harvey Biljon said: "The camp is really buzzing this week at the prospect of getting back onto our home patch after successive away matches.

“The fact that it'll be a night game under the floodlights should create a unique atmosphere and we hope supporters will play their part."

The gates open at St Peter at 5.30 pm ahead of kick-off at 7.30 pm.
