A convicted sex offender was housed in a town guest house after being released from prison for “a few days” according to Home Affairs Minister Kristina Moore.
She has confirmed that of the 117 prisoners released from La Moye over the 12 months to the end of February, six were put up in guest houses on their release, and one of those was a sex offender.
Deputy Moore was answering follow-up questions from St Helier No 1 Deputy Russell Labey, who first raised the issue in March.
Referring to the sex offender, she said that he had only been in the guest house for a “very small number of days”.
She said: “That individual only remained in the guest house for a very short period of time, while alternative accommodation was being finalised.
“There are no significant clusters of prisoners being released to a particular guest house.”
