RNLI's shop re-opens for spring

Saturday 24 March 2018

The RNLI’s Jersey shop is re-opening for the spring and summer season today with a team of 30 volunteers.

Shop volunteers will be joined by lifeboat crew and lifeguards at 11:00 to welcome the season’s first customers under a special blue and orange balloon arch and with refreshments.

The shop, based at St Helier Lifeboat Station, is run by the Jersey Lifeboat Guild with all money raised going to fund the RNLI’s lifeboat stations and lifeguards.  The charity has two lifeboat stations on Jersey, St Helier and St Catherine and has lifeguards on four of the island’s beaches who operate during the spring and summer months.

Mary Mimmack, shop manager, said: "We’re all very excited about the shop opening up again after the long winter months. We’ve got a great team in place and we are really looking forward to welcoming people into the shop and showing them all the great items we’ve got for sale this year."

The shop will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00, until the week before Christmas.

Items on sale in the shop include the RNLI’s yellow wellies, mugs, clothing, toys and confectionary. Volunteers from the shop will also be taking some of the charity’s products on the road, with a stall at the Jersey Boat Show and the St Lawrence Charity Horse Show, as well as other events.
