Senior politician to stand trial over ‘dangerous driving’

Wednesday 11 March 2020

The Assistant Chief Minister will stand trial next month over allegations he drove his red Ford Fiesta ‘dangerously’ on a road last summer, it has been confirmed.

St. John Connètable Chris Taylor (63) is facing a single charge of ‘dangerous driving’ on La Rue du Bechet es Cats on 2 June 2019, which he denied during a hearing in January.

He appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, maintaining his ‘not guilty’ plea.

A day-long trial was subsequently scheduled for Friday 17 April.

Constable Taylor holds the position of Assistant Chief Minister and Chair of the Migration Policy Development Board, but voluntarily decided to  ‘step aside’ from his duties until the legal proceedings are concluded.
