The show must go on! Young stars call for help to compete in Dance World Cup

Saturday 20 April 2024

A group of 12 young dancers will be putting on a showstopping display tomorrow as part of a fundraising bid to be able to compete on the world stage.

The pupils from Essential Dance Academy are hoping to compete in the Dance World Cup this June after being unable to do so for the past two years due to a lack of funding.

‘Mini Madness’, as they are called, are the youngest group at the local dance school.

They are hoping to find sponsorship for the competition to help cover the cost of flights to Prague, where the international contest is taking place, and accommodation in return for brand exposure.

The organisers said: “This is an incredible opportunity – one which we would love to support the girls to get there."

“In order to do that, we are looking for donations from local heroes – in turn, we will include your logo on their uniform, and you will be on all of their social media posts," they continued.

"We need to raise £7,200 to cover travel and accommodation for the 12 girls. This figure does not include the cost of training, costumes, entry fees or trips, which is covered by parents.

“We understand the current cost of living issues and that everyone is making cutbacks, therefore if at all possible you would like to make a donation, it would very much appreciated.”

The group will also be hosting a fundraiser at Chambers, Mulcaster Street, tomorrow (Sunday).

It will feature dance performances, live music, and raffles from 13:00 to 17:00.
