Spring has sprung in the Royal Square

Friday 05 April 2019

Local produce, arts and crafts, seasonal delights and Easter-themed gifts are all on offer today as the 'Simply Spring' market has sprung in the Royal Square.

Over 40 stalls will be on display in the centre of town, including a number of Genuine Jersey members, until 19:00 tonight and between 10:00 and 19:00 tomorrow.

Along with gifts and homeware, the event will be providing live music, food and entertainment in a bid to make the Royal Square "a great destination for families to come and enjoy the colour and vibrancy of springtime".

The Helier Morris Men and Jersey Lilies will be dancing around the Square while La Robeline and Pizza Projekt will be dishing up foodie treats.

Scoop – The Sustainable Cooperative, which is soon due to reopen its doors at Farm Fresh Organics in St. Lawrence, will also have its stall at the market.

Sarah Taylor, the market organiser, said: “We were really overwhelmed at the response we had from the last market, so we want to ensure that we offer visitors, shoppers and Islanders alike the same high-quality event this Spring."

She continued: "There is a real magical feel to these events, where local producers and artisans come together with great community spirit and where their talent is recognised and celebrated.

"We look forward to welcoming even more visitors and hope that they will feel inspired to take away a special piece of Jersey with them.”

John Garton, Chief Executive Officer of Genuine Jersey, said: “The first market of the year is always eagerly anticipated, and we are thrilled to be able to host this event in the heart of St. Helier once again."

He added: "Following the huge success of Simply Christmas, we’ve had an influx of enquiries from local businesses keen to join the Genuine Jersey community and to be involved with the Simply Spring event, so we are looking forward to seeing a few new faces at the market.”
