Saddle up for six days of horsey action

Saturday 04 May 2019

The thunder of hooves and the raw excitement of jumping a clear round of complex horse jumps will be the 'mane' elements of a six-day celebration of the equine world starting today.

The Liberation Celebrations get underway at the British Show Jumping Association's Jersey showground at 09:00, with showing classes all day and senior showjumping from 09:00 to 13:00.

The six-day 'Liberation Celebration' will see British Show Jumping Association Jersey (BSJA) award as many as 480 rosettes and numerous silver trophies - some of which date back to the 60s.

Over six days, spectators will get to enjoy a medley of equine competition. They will also get to admire the "most beautiful horses and ponies", clad with plaited tails and manes, as they proudly enter the ‘showing classes’. On their polished hooves, they will almost dance around the arena to impress the judges.

For those seeking a little more adrenaline, the show jumping classes will challenge horse and rider to a variety of colourful jumps in different combinations throughout the six days.
