Specialised search dogs to help search for missing man

Monday 13 March 2023

Specialised search dogs are expected to arrive in the island "imminently" to search wooded areas for missing man Thomas Frost, as it reaches one month since he was last seen.

A recommendation to search wooded areas within a 2km radius of Mr Frost's last know location was the one outstanding recommendation of a review of local search efforts, which was conducted by Avon and Somerset Police.

The search for Mr Frost — who was last seen at his parents' home address one month ago — was "scaled down" at the beginning of March, when Police Search Divers returned to the UK.

The divers had searched designated water areas, including some parts of the coastline, and gave a high level of assurance that Mr Frost was not in the areas of water they had searched.

However, the investigation remains open and members of the public are still encouraged to "be watchful". Police have confirmed that any further information that comes to light will be investigated.

Mr Frost — who is 5’10, medium build with greying hair — was last seen at his parents' address, situated on a lane above L'Etacq in St. Ouen, on Saturday 11 February around 22:00.

Police believe that when he left the house, he could have been barefoot, but wearing a crimson t-shirt underneath a navy shirt with white buttons and navy jeans, and that he may also be wearing a light grey hoodie.

Early on in the investigation, a 750-metre radius was established from Mr Frost’s last known location which resulted in 225 search taskings being identified to date including searching buildings and private premises, fields and open land searches and areas of water, all within that radius.

Over the last month, various agencies have joined in the search for Mr Frost.

Jersey Search and Rescue, Jersey Fire and Rescue Service, Channel Island Air Search, the Jersey Coastguard, CI Search and the Honorary Police have all been involved. A Police Search Advisor from Guernsey was also brought over.

Searchers have made use of drones, boats, planes and a search and rescue dog.

Despite following up numerous lines of inquiry and receiving several reports of people matching Mr Frost’s description, there have been no confirmed sightings since he left his parents’ house.

Investigation enquiries generated 216 actions, which have all now been completed.

Anyone with information should still call police on 01534 612612, selecting option 2, then option 4.
