Start your engines! Dates announced for this year's Motoring Festival

Sunday 12 May 2024

Start your engines for the Rubis Jersey International Motoring Festival which is set to return to the island at the end of this month with a packed four-day itinerary and array of legendary cars.

Welcoming over 40,000 visitors last year – 1,000 of them from off the island – the JMIF is the largest event of its kind in the Channel Islands.

Organisers have said that they are committed to a sustainable future, with 2024's festival due to showcase vehicles powered by sustainable fuel supplied by Rubis.

This petrol is made from waste products from the agriculture industry in the UK and is totally ethanol-free, Rubis said, meaning it leads to a minimum of 65% reduction in emissions.

Events will kick off on Thursday 30 May with the JIMF Rolling Roadshow on Victoria Avenue, featuring local owners' clubs, demonstrations from local motorsports competitors, and runs from visiting cars of world championship fame.

Visitors can admire historic cars, including the Brabham BT59 from 1990 and the 1980 Shadow DN11 Formula One cars, along with the 1988 Le Mans-winning Jaguar XJR-9 Group C car.

Racing is set to get underway with the Moonlight Sprint on Friday 31 May, which will see drivers go head-to-head in classic and modern cars as well as bikes.

The challenging Westmount Hillclimb is also due to return on Saturday and Sunday.

The Active Arena will provide entertainment on Sunday, with demonstrations of Jersey's motorsport disciplines.

People's Park is once again due to come alive as the festival hub, offering food and drink, live music, and entertainment for all ages.

The Lower Park will feature static displays of classic, vintage, and modern cars and motorcycles, including the Concours D'Elegance show on Saturday.
