Posties have been kept busy sorting through all the local stamp designs Islanders hope will be fit for the Queen.

The company has been on the hunt for a new set of stamps that capture what the Island means to people and will be sending off the top entries in their "My Jersey" competition to Buckingham Palace for royal approval.

Jersey Post's Philatelic Marketing Manager Rachel MacKenzie said: "We've been overwhelmed by the positive response we've had to the competition. The range of ideas and standard of entries we've seen so far has been fantastic. Jersey has some very talented and creative people; it's going to be a difficult competition to judge."

Budding artists from local charity Jersey Mencap have loved getting stuck in to the challenge.

Charity Coordinator Alex Wiles said: "Artists from our Taking Part Making Art project were delighted to be invited by Jersey Post to participate in the Design a Stamp competition and have fully embraced the challenge of depicting our island on paper."

There's still two months left to get creative and enter their competition and they hope to see even more of your favourite places or local delicacies, a significant historical event or a person from history.

Entries can be in any medium, whether it's colouring pencils, felt tips, paint or photography.

You have until Friday 27 March to come up with your design and be in with a chance of winning one of many local prizes including a year's family membership to Jersey Heritage and Durrell Wildlife Park.

The winners will be announced in June and the new stamps will be posted all over the Island and the UK later in the year.

You can pick up an entry form at the Broad Street post office or contact Rachel Mackenzie on 516324 or by emailing rachel.mackenzie@jerseypost.com
