Surf’s up, on the screen!

Sunday 26 August 2018

For the second year running, Jersey’s Surf Film Festival promises to be a swell idea.

The four-day event taking place at various venues in the west of the island is billed as "a celebration of the sea, community and the environment and aims to bring people together with films, and workshops."

Festival founder Rebecca Coley said: “I’m super excited about this year’s festival. We’re showcasing incredible life stories documented in film, for arguably two of the best surfers of our time, Andy Irons & Lisa Anderson. Both teach us a lot and transcend just surfing. I hope that the festival continues to grow and adds to Jersey’s already thriving surf culture.”

The four days of the festival will be jam-packed with films, including premieres for the island, 70’s classics, and short films made by islanders for the Channel Island Surf Film competition.

As well as showing established surf films, the festival is holding a competition to promote films about Jersey or films that islanders have shot. Films must be under 20 minutes, there’s a £10 entry fee, and the closing date is 18 September.
