Van without a man...?

Tuesday 30 April 2019

A Ferryspeed van came close to plunging into the Harbour yesterday morning after its driver forgot to put the handbrake on.

The precariously placed vehicle was spotted at New North Quay by islander Andrew Borny.

Shocked by the scene on his way to work around 07:00, he posted the photo to the 'Jersey Parking Fails' Facebook page, with the caption: "Wow."

Within hours, the photo had been liked over 450 times and generated over 130 comments, with numerous islanders poking fun at the situation.

Several joked that it was a "good start to a Monday" or a symptom of the "Monday morning blues", while one islander wrote: "I'd like to see a traffic warden put a ticket on that windscreen."

Another suggested the word 'Ferryspeed' had been "taken too literally."

An official from Ports of Jersey, which have responsibility for the area in which the van was 'parked', told Express the problem was the result of a handbrake not having been put on.

Express, which has tried to contact Ferryspeed but received no reply, understands the van has been recovered.
