Just three weeks to the start of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon, organisers are seeking more help from the public.
With more elite athletes entering than ever before, organisers expect both male and female course records to be seriously challenged and Islanders are being called upon to ensure a safe and successful event is held.
Organisers are urgently seeking a hundred course marshals for the race on Sunday, October 2nd, as this fund-raising event could not take place without the valuable support of the volunteer marshals who so kindly give up their time each year.
Getting behind the Jersey Marathon in this manner also provides a great opportunity of soaking up the atmosphere of one of the largest community events Jersey’s sporting calendar has to offer. As a 'thank you' for supporting the Marathon and official charities, volunteer course marshals are also given a limited edition volunteer t-shirt and refreshments throughout the day.
Ian Le Gallais, Marshal Manager, said: “Every year we call on the support of Islanders to help us and we’re so grateful to everyone who gives their time on the day. It’s a great experience to get involved in and help support the Marathon, which raises valuable funds for local charities. I truly hope that Islanders will come forward and lend their support to be part of the great community spirit on Race Day!”
