Jersey Met has tonight issued an 'orange' warning, which it says could be upgraded to red.
Winds of 45 knots, or severe gale 9, are predicted, and Jersey Met says there is a possibility they could reach force 10 overnight.

The government said that all emergency services were aware and prepared, and is advising islanders to secure any garden furniture or loose dustbins or anything that may blow away in the high winds.
