Man accused of stealing watch refused bail

Wednesday 07 February 2018

A 33-year-old man who is accused of stealing a gold watch, and £50 in cash, has been refused bail.

Igor Emanuel Alves Frescata, originally from Madeira, is charged with stealing the watch valued at £100 and £50 in cash on 28th January 2018.

The prosecution claims the cash was in a tin hidden in a cupboard at a flat in Rouge Bouillon – from where its alleged Mr Frescata also stole the watch.

Defending, Advocate Luke Sette, requested his client be released on bail saying Mr Frescata is “able to comply with bail conditions.” But this was refused by Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris, as the defendant is currently serving a 12-month probation order for another offence.

Mr Frescata has been remanded in custody and will re-appear in court on 21 February 2018.
