Wet start back at school and slippy roads

Monday 05 September 2016

The back to school rush saw a couple of accidents on the wet roads this morning.

A cyclist was taken to hospital after coming off his bike at the junction of Cattle Street in Minden Place and a driver went to A&E after a red Mazda collided with a black Land Rover at 08:45 on Mont Felard.

Police, who've warned drivers to take care on the roads that are slippy after the long dry spell, say the cyclist was taken to A&E with minor injuries and a 30 year-old woman who was assessed by paramedics at the scene on Mont Felard was also taken to be checked over but has since been discharged from hospital.

But it wasn't just the wet weather causing hold ups. The police also had a report of up to a dozen cows on the loose at about 09:45 at the top of Mont Cochon, in the area of Landscape Grove.
