Following an intensive 12-week crash course, novice surfers will be putting their new skills to test next weekend in a surf competition which hopes to raise £30,000 for charity.

The Le Rossignol Estates White Collar Surfing Competition and Surf Fest is set to be held at the Watersplash on Saturday 12 August and involves three music stages, family entertainment and a raffle alongside the suff competition itself.

Once the sun sets, the action with move inside, with local and visiting DJs and acts providing the evening's entertainment.

Since its inception in 2019, the Surfing Competition and Surf Fest has raised thousands of pounds for local charity Healing Waves. This year, the target is £30,000.

To participate in the competition, entrants enrol in a 12-week surf programme, held at the Splash Surf Centre in St. Ouen’s Bay from May.

The two principal sponsors of this year’s festival are MailMate Print and Ogier

Nicola Carroll, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Ogier, said: "Ogier is delighted to be the platinum sponsor for Surf Fest and to support Healing Waves.

“The ocean is a source of fun and beauty for islanders and is easy to take for granted, but the sea isn't accessible to everyone.

"Surf Fest is a fantastic example of an inclusive event that brings together our local community, encourages islanders to try something new, and supports a cause that empowers people with disabilities to thrive, participate in a sport that positively contributes to their well-being, and enjoy the ocean.”
