Who will prosper in this year's static Tour?

Sunday 10 July 2016

The Tour de France will virtually be in Jersey when local cyclists go head-to-head again on Broad Street later this month.

15 corporate rivals will take to the saddle once more in the big Prosperity Day pedal-off on Friday 22 July up Col du Tourmalet, the highest paved mountain pass in the French Pyrenees.

Teams including Grant Thornton, Carey Olsen, Bedells, Ogier, and KPMG will be using state of the art, 3D technology ‘turbo trainers’ and will not only be competing against their neighbours, but for a position on the overall leaderboard with the top three teams racing in a 10-minute sprint at the end of the day to determine the overall winner.

Here's a clip of some of the teams in action in last year's race.

Prosperity Day is the brainchild of technology business Prosperity 24.7 who've got teams signed up to clock up some miles and raise thousands to help Caring Cooks of Jersey, Wetwheels Jersey, the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation in Guernsey and Channel Islands Air Search.

Co-Founder & Director of Prosperity 24.7 Geraldine Evans has been involved with Caring Cooks of Jersey for the past 18 months.

She said: “I saw a posting on Facebook and thought it was a fantastic initiative, and very much something I felt I could be part of.

“For me, it is feeling that I am making a difference to a family going through tough times.  Sometimes, when you donate and support other charities, you don't necessarily see where your donation is going.  With this charity you are directly involved.  Doing something as simple as cooking an extra meal for a family can really support them when they need it.”

You can find out more about Prosperity Day on the Prosperity 24.7 website, on Facebook and on Twitter or by using: #ProsperityDay and you can support the event here.
