Witness appeal after young girl knocked down by fuel tanker

Wednesday 27 April 2016

Police are appealing for witnesses after an 11-year-old girl was knocked down by a fuel tanker outside St Ouen’s Motorworks yesterday afternoon.

Although the girl was taken to hospital, she suffered only minor cuts and bruises.

The police say that the driver of the tanker – a 54-year-old man – was spoken to at the scene.

The girl had just stepped out of a school bus at around 4.30 pm before attempting to cross the road from behind the bus when she was hit.

The vehicle that hit her is described as a white DAF fuel tanker.

Police officers spoke to witnesses at the scene and closed the road for a short time.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the police on 612612 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
