“Yee-haw” – it’s time to party in the street!

Saturday 06 September 2014

The middle of town will be closed off to traffic tomorrow as the country comes to town.

Halkett Place is hosting the first ever Halkett Hoedown tomorrow – a big street party in aid of Headway Jersey.

It’s being organised by Bean Around the World’s David Stokes together with Louise Stirling from Headway and Niall Mac of Stoked Music who hope the Hoedown will become an annual event.

Islanders are being encouraged to dress up in Wild West costumes and grab their partners to head on down to the shindig when it opens at 1 pm.

The party will go on until 10 pm with live music from Frankie Davies, The Blind Drivers, Sula, Rick Jones, Badlabeques & Roodmood. The festival’s own band “The Jersey Hoedowners” will also be performing and Guernsey’s Buffalo Huddlestone Band and Sark’s 5 piece folk band The Recks will also take to the stage.

There will also be line dancing, western themed games, face-painting, caricatures, a 50/50 raffle and prizes for the best fancy dress.

You don't need to buy tickets to party western-style but you will be asked to make a donation to the charity.
